ABOUT
Caitlin is a freelance designer and maker with over 12 years of experience in hand-painted and printed garments, embroidery, and bespoke finishes for high-end fashion and costume. She has always loved to paint and draw and this feeds into all of her design work. She splits her time between textiles, performing as an accordionist in a folk-fusion band, and raising her daughter in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex.
Maja Roberts presents the 'Seto' collection by Caitlin Maja Roberts, launching in May 2025. First inspired by a trip to Japan, Caitlin drew from the art and textiles, and landscapes which she saw – from the colours and print details in historical kimonos, to the simplicity of form in contemporary Japanese art, and the celebration of the natural world. Since then, the designs have evolved, with inspiration taken from Caitlin’s many years working in India such as the faded hues of Jaipur’s Amber fort, through to references closer to home such as the hand-painted interiors in nearby Charleston, East Sussex.
The garments incorporate hand-painted silks and cottons (painted by Caitlin in her home studio) along with embellishments such as vintage silk sari borders collected in India - no two garments are identical, each having unique artistic details.
